Interlakes Community Centre
Pioneer Heritage Trail

In 2013, with the support of a grant from the BC Recreation Council and the Northern Development Initiative Trust, a 0.9-kilometer trail was constructed connecting the rodeo grounds to the Interlakes Community Centre.

This wheelchair-accessible trail is open year-round, offering a scenic route for walking, skiing, and snowshoeing. If you’re bringing your dog, please remember to clean up after them.

The trail begins at the Community Centre, following the Roe Lake slough before gently inclining and running parallel to the water. It eventually curves right toward the rodeo grounds. A secondary trail leads to a lovely natural dale, while another short path provides access to the water’s edge for a closer look at the slough. Along the trail, you’ll find several viewing spots with benches for rest and reflection. For those wishing to linger longer, there are picnic tables, waste receptacles, and an outhouse available.

At the main viewing area, an interpretive sign highlights the native birds and animals of the region.

As the seasons shift, so too does the trail, offering new views and experiences with every visit.
